Phreadz :Seesmic on Smack

It seems that just about any popular application or site has a clone and now its Seesmics turn to get a disstant lovechild in the form of Phreadz. Phreadz can only be described as Seesmic on Smack as it has all the same features plus lots more.

Phreadz was built by UK developer Kosso who funded the project himself. Kosso has been accused of stealling code etc which was actually misleading as his only involvement with Seesmic was as a user and API developer. You can read what Techcrunch says here, what Kosso says here and what Loic might say here. Once again It seems strange that Techcruch would promote a company directly in line with one of its investments especially after last weeks public belittling of Loic and Seesmic.

I have been looking for a simple way to earn some cash from product domains I have floating around which would work with my Wordpress application and be very quick to build out.

I am currently testing PHPBay on a number of domains and find it has been converting pretty well. The software is well supported and even I could use it out the box which means its simple to use.

If you would like to see the product in action then you can see a live site being built at paddington-bear.net Over the next few days you will see the site developed into something a little more impressive but right now everyone is working on another project.

Lice Search Cashback

It seems every man and his dog owns a cash back site and now its the time of the big boys to get in on the action. Boffins at Microsoft will tomorrow announce the launch of its new Cash back service to lure customers away from Google.

The product was developed by Microsoft owned Jellyfish which has a history of cash back products and sites. The new service  already has a number of key  merchants on board who have been specially chosen for there reliability and already low prices.

New merchants are to be lured with the promise of commission only fees which means that it holds none of the risks associated with PPC and lots of traffic for free.

I see a lot of unhappy affiliates :( -

A lot of people slag Chris Evans as being a bit of a maverick, an carrot topped idiot with a big mouth and a habbit of getting sacked but one thing nobody can knock him for is his taste in cars.

The Radio 2 DJ has spent £5.5 million on a 1961Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder at an auction in Maranello. The car was once owned by actor James Coburn and is in great conditon.

Chris previouslly gave his now ex wife a brand new Ferrari 360 to score a date with her and bought his dog a plasma screen because hes not well.

Techcrunch Attack Seesmic On Loic’s Big Day

Sun, May 18, 2008

The last couple of days could not have been better for Loic Le Meur and Seesmic as the company had managed to secure a number of huge Hollywood Stars to be interviews using the Seesmic platform. The idea was for a couple of London based Seesmic users to set up the equipment on location in Cannes and send the feeds back to the US ready for the big press anouncment to follow.

If you have being following the Seesmic story then you will know that Loic Le Meur decided to use VC money not only as a way to fund the project but also as a way to build contacts who can strategically help Seesmic roll out its platform and take advantage of well forged relationships. One of the investors was Michael Arrington owner of Techcrunch who has written plenty of positive material about Seesmic on a number of occasions but yesterday he decided to make a post not only denouncing the company but ruining the opportunity for them to promote the Indiana Jones Actors coup.

The story ran with the title Don’t Screw Your Partners Over A Marketing Promotion which makes it sound like it was very sinister but the truth is was all down to a rogue Wordpress plug-in because of its bad design took out 3 of Michael Arrington’s sites for a very short period.

When I first read the story I could not understand why Michael Arrington would make such an aggressive move on a company he invests knowing that the publicity generated by having Harrison Ford is worth a small fortune to any company. It has also lead to a number of Techcrunch users attacking the Seesmic platform calling it nothing more than Loic’s plaything and one is even suggesting hes deported back to France!

I am not a massive Seesmic user but I do see its value not only to the public but as an application for business use. I also think that Loic’s passionate approach to the product will see it do very well and by integrating the product into as many apps as possible I think it will easily build a huge user base which is what is key for the product to suceed.

Take a look at Loic’s response here
