It’s been ages since I made a Mealcloud post and people are asking whats happening and when we are due to launch. Well the good news is we have been making great progress in the desktop side of things with the main Epos application almost finished.
One thing which has been eye opening is the time it takes to develop for the desktop. I have seen days of work for the most simple changes which would take less than a few hours using a web based framework. This means that we really need to be really , really strict on the development process and be careful not to make silly mistakes which take ages to fix.
The web based backend has been a bit of an issue which we are working hard to put together. My focus on building an awesome Windows desktop application ment my normal way of bringing on web developers was left a little late and finding local talent has been tough with so many people who promise the earth but could not code a pancake!
One product I have found really useful in the Mealcloud project has been Balsamiq desktop which has allowed me to whiteboard the functionality process to both the desktop and web development team.
All going well we should have a live testing program in the next few weeks using some really cool hardware which we have had developed just for Mealcloud.
The Secret Project
For most people Mealcloud would be enough but in the spirit or Kevin Rose and his idea of developing a number of projects @ MilkInc I decided I needed a second big project to keep me busy.
Details of what were doing need to be kept to the minimum but you can be sure that this product is unbelievable and going to be LOVED by affiliate’s across the planet. I can only say that once you start using this you will make it your chosen weapon and with the amazing functionality we have built in, allow you to scale your campaigns like never before.
